Looking for some funeral bible verses?
Funerals can be a sad day when a loved one passes suddenly and other funerals may have a quite different feel. Some funerals are more of a celebration of life lived to the fullest.
Family and friends unite to celebrate and share memories of their loved one.
Here are some bible verses from scripture that would be appropriate to use at a funeral.
These funeral verses may also be added to a sympathy card to provide an extra word of comfort and encouragement.
2 Corinthians 1:2-4
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Praise to the God of All Comfort
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime;weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life."
For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
