Do you have brotherly love?
We are commanded to love one another and especially love our fellow believers in Christ. It is not a request, or recommendation from God -it is a commandment.
Admittedly, not every group of Christians gets along perfectly. :)
The good news is we have much in common...after all we are all a part of the same body!
Let's be inspired to truly have and express brotherly love for one another of the Christian faith!
John 13: 34-35
34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
1 John 3:16
16This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
17 As iron sharpens iron,so one man sharpens another.
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
1 Corinthians 12:27
27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 1 Corinthians 12:21
21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
1 John 4:20-21
20If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.
12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
